Candy Strap is a women-only night café bar in Sakae. It's a place where you can settle in for drinks, coffee or a chat without needing to identify as LGBTQ+. The bar welcomes lesbian and bisexual women, women exploring their sexuality, and anyone looking to meet friends or potential partners.

The bar also serves coffee and soft drinks, so this can still be your hangout spot if alcohol isn’t your thing.

Party House 25 is the Sakae gay bar run by Nagoya drag queen Ken-chan, with a focus on conversation, games and occasional full-on events. The male staff dress in drag for themed nights, which can feature competitions and shows alongside the usual drinks and chat.

Couples, groups and solo women are welcome. The ¥2,000 seating charge keeps the night reasonably priced.

Bar Piece is a mixed LGBTQ+ bar in Fushimi where drag queens and handsome bartenders welcome a crowd of all ages and genders. There’s no need to worry too much about fitting into a particular category here: people come together at the bar to drink, chat, and have a laugh. It’s also foreigner-friendly, with staff happy to work through language barriers.

The ¥2,500 table charge includes a snack, with drinks around ¥800.

GARASYA is a long-running show pub in Nagoya’s Nishiki district, with a large cast of glamorous trans performers and plenty of champagne-fuelled entertainment. The performers combine stage shows with plenty of chat, while the famous champagne calls can turn a birthday or special occasion into a full-on celebration.

The venue is Japanese-language only, so some Japanese is useful. Check the performers’ birthdays before visiting for an especially lively night.

Kimagure Cat's is a colourful, cat-themed bar in Nagoya that fully commits to its kawaii side. Expect playful drinks, quirky décor, and a rotating cast of campy bartenders, with plenty of character packed into the venue.

It’s open to first-timers as well as regulars, but there are no English-speaking staff, so Japanese speakers or visitors with a Japanese-speaking friend will get more out of the experience.

Garage is a men-only gay bar in Nagoya with a crowd that tends to include plenty of muscular and slightly heavier guys in their 20s to 50s. Master Tsukasa and his staff keep things relaxed and welcoming, and overseas visitors can get by with translation apps even without Japanese.

The compact bar is a good place to chat with local guys rather than simply have a quick drink and leave.

Tendercia is a gay mixed bar in Sakae. They have a striking deep-blue interior and a sociable, sit-together setup where regulars and newcomers quickly end up chatting. Owner Mama is a big part of the experience, joining conversations and keeping the room moving.  There are also drinking games, including High & Low, dice, and Pirate Roulette.

The bar is foreigner-friendly, with English, translation apps and plenty of effort from the staff. The one-hour all-you-can-drink set is ¥3,300. The space fills up fast, so reservations are definitely recommended.

Long-running dance party for LGBTQ & friends in Nagoya. The METRO Club is usually held on the 2nd Saturday of each month in the heart of the city, at CLUB LOVER:z near Toyoko Inn Sakae Nagoya.

The club is consistently packed with a fabulous, friendly, eclectic crowd. Doors open at 10 pm, and the party continues until 5 am or 6 am. ¥2500 gets you 2 free drinks, disco, drag shows, and tons of fun.

Club LOVER:z is a gay nigthclub and home to Nagoya METRO Club’s monthly LGBTQ+ nights, held on the second Saturday of every month. Expect energetic music, DJs, and drag performances, with admission around ¥2,000 including two drinks.

The club also hosts other LGBTQ+ events throughout the year, so there’s usually something different on the calendar. It’s a particularly good pick if you want a proper dance night rather than a small bar.

Corona Club is a discreet gay sauna in Nagoya’s Kanayama district, popular with local men and older clientele. The building feels more like a compact hotel than a cruising spot, with small private rooms, basic amenities, and a low-key setup.

There’s a communal bath, sauna, and rental rooms available for short stays. There's a room for under 40s and S&M. Facilities also include a karaoke room, a video room, and lockers. The place also offers massage services.

It may not suit international travelers or first-timers looking for a livelier experience, but there is an on-site bar called Bar BLR, so that's also a great spot for meeting the sauna's clientele if you want to ease into it.

The signage is minimal and the entrance easy to miss, so it helps to know what to expect before arriving.

Sauna New Nakayama is a well-established gay sauna near Kanayama Station in Nagoya. It has a no-frills setup with a sauna, hot tub, rest area, and private rooms for rent.

The crowd skews older and local, and while it has loyal regulars, it may feel dated to some. Foreign visitors aren’t common here, but it’s open to anyone respectful of the space. The entrance is low-key, and signage is mostly in Japanese. Think of it more as a quiet cruising option for those who know the scene.

X-tribe is a gay sauna and cruising space in the heart of Nagoya’s Sakae neighborhood. Spread across multiple floors, it features locker areas, dark zones, private booths, and themed nights catering to different tastes. The layout includes a maze-like design, sling area, and sometimes event-specific dress codes.

It draws a mostly Japanese crowd, but international visitors are welcome, as long as you fit into their strict entry criteria: 30s, built, with short/cropped/shaven hair.

Staff are friendly and entry includes amenities like towels and lockers. It’s busiest late at night and on weekends, especially during underwear and nude events.
