Lesbian Nashville

Lesbian Nashville — Bars, Club Nights & Events

Nashville’s lesbian scene is smaller than you might expect from a city this size. The Lipstick Lounge remains the standout: a long-running lesbian-owned bar in East Nashville with karaoke, brunch, live music and a strong community feel.

Beyond that, the scene is more event-led. Sapphic nights such as Scissor Party! bring together lesbians, bisexual women, trans and non-binary people for dancing and DJs, while mixed LGBTQ+ venues like Canvas and Play add more options depending on the night.

This guide brings together the best lesbian bars, sapphic club nights and LGBTQ+ events to know in Nashville.

The Lipstick Lounge is a legendary lesbian-owned bar in East Nashville that describes itself simply as “a bar for humans.” Open since 2002, it has become one of Nashville’s best-known LGBTQ+ institutions and welcomes everyone across the community.

Karaoke is a huge part of life at The Lip, with singers taking to the stage every night. There’s also live music, trivia, dancing, drag events, a patio, cocktails and a full food menu, plus weekend brunch from 10am. It feels much more like a neighbourhood LGBTQ+ hangout than a conventional nightclub, and it’s particularly popular with lesbians.

The adjoining Chapstick space adds a sports-bar side to the venue, with dozens of screens, pool, trivia and regular watch parties. That makes Lipstick a particularly good choice if you’re looking for somewhere LGBTQ+ in Nashville that works just as well for brunch or a game as it does for drinks and late-night karaoke.

You’ll find The Lip in East Nashville, around a 10-minute drive from downtown and separate from the cluster of gay bars around Church Street.

Scissor is a recurring sapphic dance party in Nashville, bringing lesbians, bisexual women, trans and non-binary people together for a night built around dancing, DJs and community.

The party currently takes place on the second Thursday of each month at Lowbar Nashville, with rotating guest DJs and themed editions throughout the year. It’s one of the better options in the city if you’re looking for a women-centred LGBTQ+ night rather than a general gay club.

Scissor is still a relatively new addition to Nashville’s scene, but it has quickly become a useful fixture for sapphic nightlife and socialising.

Check their Instagram for info about upcoming events.
