Bakaló Mykonos brings a taste of the Greek islands to Miami Beach, with a Mediterranean menu built around olive oil, fresh produce, seafood and ingredients sourced from Greece where possible.

The restaurant was founded by Nikos Nanou and Egidio Guerreri, who first opened Bakaló in Mykonos before bringing the concept to Miami Beach in 2022. The City of Miami Beach has highlighted Bakaló as part of its LGBTQ Pride Month coverage, making it a particularly relevant addition to our Miami restaurant guide.

Expect Greek classics and sharing plates alongside dishes such as seabass carpaccio, lobster giouvetsi and moussaka. Desserts include bougatsa with vanilla custard and portokalopita, an orange syrup cake served with Greek kaimaki ice cream.

Bakaló is on West Avenue in South Beach and serves dinner Tuesday to Sunday.

R House is one of Miami’s best-known LGBTQ+ venues, combining a restaurant, bar, art space and seriously high-energy drag entertainment in the heart of Wynwood.

Created by chef Rocco Carulli, his husband Owen Bale and Miami drag star Athena Dion, R House is particularly famous for its weekend drag brunch, where big performances, dancing and flowing drinks turn brunch into a full-on party. It’s become one of the city’s signature LGBTQ+ experiences and has attracted its share of celebrity guests.

The entertainment continues throughout the week with drag shows, live music, bingo and special events.

Groups looking to make an entrance can order the Piña Loca – a whole pineapple filled with piña colada, five shots of liquor and plenty of sparkler-fuelled theatre.

R House is in Wynwood, Miami’s colourful arts district, so it’s easy to combine a visit with the neighbourhood’s galleries, street art, bars and restaurants. It isn’t close to South Beach’s gay beach and nightlife, so allow time for a taxi or rideshare if you’re staying in Miami Beach.

Easily found thanks to a bright, neon facade, Cheeseburger baby is an LGBTQ+ female-owned business that has found massive success in combining delicious food with a powerful sense of community.

The store is located in South Beach but Cheeseburger Baby also operates three food trucks and a concession stand at the Hard Rock Stadium and Miami Convention Center.  Be sure to sample this iconic Miami staple on your next trip to the city.

Marion is a dynamic LGBTQ-owned restaurant and cocktail lounge in Brickell that blends New American and Asian flavors into hip yet sophisticated dishes like the green papaya salad, Australian lamb chops, Nebraska prime ribeye and Kobe sushi roll. Marion builds an exciting ambiance that crescendos into an all-encompassing party scene with dimming lights, building music and a decadent dessert assortment.

This gay-owned seafood gem situated along the Miami River offers incredible sunset views and a relaxed Key West vibe. Boasting 30+ years of seafood mastery, Casablanca Seafood Bar & Grill's globally-inspired menu highlights include sizzling grilled octopus, tuna tartare and a unique Casablanca Parrillada with pan-seared snapper, lobster tail, prawns and more over a ragout of vegetables.

Klaw Miami is an LGBTQ-owned surf and turf haven of culinary creativity inside the historic Margarent Pace Park Women’s Club building. The restaurant pays homage to legacy through charity cocktails. Renowned for Norwegian king crab, dry-aged Kobe beef and live-fire grilled steaks, Klaw also offers caviar service and in-house meat aging.

Led by Reuben Ruiz since its 2007 opening, this family-owned, gay-friendly restaurant near Miami International Airport has continuously served diverse Latin and American cuisine complemented by homemade desserts, an on-site liquor store with wine and spirits and a walk-in humidor stocked with domestic and international cigars.
